Hair systems.

A hair system, also known as a hair replacement system, hairpiece, or toupee, is a non-surgical solution designed to cover areas of the head where you want more hair. Gone are the days when hairpieces were synonymous with embarrassment, discomfort, and an artificial appearance. Modern hair systems are tailor-made to conform precisely to the contours of your head and integrate with your remaining hair in terms of color, texture, and density.

Hair replacement systems can be made from a number of materials, including human hair, synthetic fibers, or sometimes both. The base, the part that adheres to your scalp, can be fabricated from a variety of mesh, silicone, or polyurethane.

The way these systems attach to your scalp can also vary. Options include double-sided tape, medical-grade adhesive, or clips. The choice of attachment method is determined by factors like your lifestyle, your scalp’s condition, and your personal preferences.

Unlike hair restoration surgery, where the results are permanent in properly selected candidates, hair systems do require regular upkeep and periodic replacement. The frequency depends on the type of system, the attachment method, and your personal care regimen.

Depending on all of these factors, you may choose to manage your hair system yourself or opt for the services of a professional.

At the Anderson Center for Hair, we’re excited to partner with and recommend Lisa Ferestad at Cura Hair Solutions in Atlanta and the CNC Hair System.

About Lisa & Cura Hair Solutions

Lisa Ferestad is the owner and Creative Director of Cura Hair Solutions. Ever since she was young, Lisa had a passion for hairstyling, despite the irony of her own struggle with hair loss. This first-hand experience with the challenges of fine and thinning hair gave her a deep sense of empathy for others facing similar issues. When traditional cutting techniques and styling products failed to provide the desired results for her and her clients, Lisa embarked on a quest for alternative solutions. This journey led her to specialize in providing the best nonsurgical hair solutions available.

With more than 25 years of experience in the hair industry, Lisa remains dedicated to her craft by continuously training with leading experts in the field of hair replacement. She carefully selects reputable companies that offer top-quality hair and utilize the least damaging attachment methods. In fact, Lisa herself wears hair every day, and never suggests a product she hasn’t tried herself.

About the CNC Hair System

Cesare Ragazzi Laboratories is an Italian company with more than 40 years of experience in the field of hair systems. The CNC hair system, which stands for Capelli Naturali a Contatto, or “Natural Contact Hair,” is non-surgical and dermatologically tested.

Here’s how the process of ordering and wearing a CNC hair system with Lisa works:

  1. Consultation: The process begins with an initial consultation, during which Lisa will assess your hair and scalp, discuss your needs and preferences, and explain the process in detail.
  2. Scalp Mapping and Hair Sample Collection: Lisa then uses a specialized technique to make a detailed map of your scalp, taking into account the contours and measurements. She’ll also collect hair samples to match your hair color, density, and texture perfectly.
  3. Creation of the Hair System: Based on the scalp map and hair samples, a custom prosthetic base, or “second skin,” is created from a special, breathable biomedical material. Real human hair is then selected to match your hair, and each hair is individually hand-implanted into the base, creating a natural appearance of the hair direction and density. This process is completed at the Cesare Ragazzi production facility in Italy.
  4. Application of the Hair System: The custom-made hair system is then sent back to Lisa in Atlanta. During your follow-up appointment, Lisa applies the hair system to your scalp using a special, dermatologically tested adhesive. This means you can swim, shower, and go about your daily activities without any restrictions!
  5. Styling: Once the system is applied, Lisa will cut and style your new and existing hair blending the two seamlessly.
  6. Maintenance: You’ll need regular maintenance appointments with Lisa to keep your hair looking its best. These appointments usually involve removing, cleaning, and reattaching the hair system, and restyling your natural hair as needed.

Reviews from Lisa’s Website

“As I got older, I realized my hair was getting finer and thinner. No one ever told me that could happen. I had been seeing Lisa as my hair stylist for years and as I became more and more disappointed with my hair texture and lack of fullness, she was there to listen and provide alternatives. I am willing to try lots of different things all with the idea of looking my best and Lisa has helped me each step of the way to find my best self and continue to improve on that. I would gladly recommend her to anyone who wants to have a great head of hair while working with someone who really cares about you.” —  Jeanne B.

“You’re the best! You have changed my life! My topper is perfect! The topper itself is light and you don’t know it’s on your head. The color matching you picked was perfect and I get so many compliments on the haircut. Oh, did I mention I feel years younger. I don’t leave home without it!”  — Rita G.

“I was facing a grim situation, losing my hair, due to medication. My neighbor came by for a 5pm glass of wine. I commented on how great her hair looked. She said that it was a hair piece. I was dumbfounded. She recommended Lisa to me. Lisa changed my life and my look. I now have 2 hair pieces and Lisa oversees their care. She is so genuine, talented, creative, and professional. She understands the horror of hair loss, she has very thin hair. One would never know because she always wears a wonderful enhancement. Kudos to Lisa!!” —  Judy S.

Scalp micropigmentation.

Scalp micropigmentation is a cosmetic hair tattooing technique that involves the application of tiny pigment dots on the scalp to replicate the appearance of hair follicles. While scalp micropigmentation is similar to a standard tattoo, it’s only semi-permanent. This may sound like a negative, but it’s actually a good thing! The semi-permanent nature of scalp micropigmentation allows for adjustments and adaptability over time, ensuring that the results remain natural-looking and can be modified as needed. How long your scalp micropigmentation results last depend on a combination of the specific ink formulation used, how deep the pigment is implanted into the skin, how active the sebaceous glands in your scalp are, and the natural cellular turnover of your skin, which varies from person to person. Maintenance sessions or touch-ups are recommended to refresh the pigments and maintain your look.

Scalp micropigmentation might be a good fit for you if you’re looking for:

  • A Shaved Look: Scalp micropigmentation is used to create the illusion of a closely shaved or buzzed hairstyle. This is particularly useful for individuals who prefer a bald or shaved head but want to maintain a consistent and defined look. By applying pigmented dots to the scalp in a manner that replicates hair follicles at a very short length, scalp micropigmentation can provide a natural-looking appearance of a freshly shaved head.
  • The Appearance of Density: Scalp micropigmentation can effectively address the issue of hair thinning by giving the impression of increased hair density. By adding carefully placed pigmented dots between existing hairs, scalp micropigmentation can create the appearance of fuller hair. This technique works well for individuals with thinning hair who desire a denser look without undergoing surgical hair restoration procedures.
  • Scar Concealment: SMP is an excellent option for concealing scars on the scalp resulting from hair transplant surgeries, accidents, or other scalp injuries. The pigmented dots are strategically applied to match the color of the surrounding hair, helping to camouflage the scar tissue and make it less noticeable. SMP can effectively blend the scar with the surrounding scalp and hair, providing a more uniform and natural appearance.
  • Augmenting a Hair Transplant with Limited Hair Supply: In cases where an individual has a limited supply of donor hair for a hair transplant, scalp micropigmentation can be used to augment the results. If the donor area is insufficient to achieve the desired level of hair coverage, scalp micropigmentation can be used to fill in the gaps between transplanted hair follicles. By replicating the appearance of hair follicles in the areas where there is limited hair supply, scalp micropigmentation can create the illusion of greater density and improve the overall aesthetic outcome.

Scalp camouflage.

Scalp camouflage is a technique used to minimize the visibility of a thinning scalp or areas of hair loss. It involves applying pigmented products directly to the scalp to match the color of your existing hair, creating the illusion of a fuller head of hair by minimizing contrast.

Here’s how scalp camouflage is typically done:

  1. Clean and dry your scalp: Start by cleansing and drying your scalp thoroughly. It’s important to have a clean and dry scalp for better product adhesion and longevity.
  2. Choose the right color: Choose a scalp camouflage product that matches the color of your natural hair or the roots of your hair. Many products offer a range of shades to accommodate different hair colors.
  3. Apply the product: Follow the instructions provided, considering the specific type of product you have. Typically, you will gently apply the product to the areas of your scalp that require coverage. Depending on the product, you can use your fingers, a brush, or a sponge applicator to evenly spread and blend the product.
  4. Style as desired: Once you have applied and blended the scalp camouflage product, style your hair as you normally would. The pigmented product will create the illusion of thicker hair by reducing the visibility of your scalp.

Hair fibers – Toppik.

We recommend and sell a product called Toppik in a variety of colors. Toppik is a cosmetic product designed to camouflage the appearance of thinning hair. It utilizes colored keratin protein fibers, the same protein found in human hair, that adhere to your existing hair, giving it a fuller, more voluminous appearance. The fibers are finely textured and statically charged, allowing them to cling to existing hair strands. When applied properly, Toppik hair building fibers seamlessly blend with your natural hair.

The application process is straightforward. You simply shake the Toppik container over the desired area on your scalp, and the fibers settle into place. After applying the fibers, gently patting your hair to distribute them evenly. Toppik also sells a fiber hold spray to secure the fibers in place.

Toppik is designed to be reasonably resistant to wind and rain, and it can also withstand sweat. However, the product is not permanent and will wash out with shampoo.

Some users may experience minor side effects, such as an itchy scalp or irritation. In rare cases, individuals may be allergic to one of the ingredients in the product. As with any new product, it’s wise to do a patch test before fully incorporating it into your routine.

Visit one of our offices or call us to purchase the shade of Toppik that matches your hair best.
